Canada to welcome more Skilled Workers in 2012

CIC plans to welcome more skilled workers under the Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP) in 2012. Number of applicants approved is expected to increase in 2012 up to 55,000–57,000, from 47,000–47,400 in 2011. For more information, see the CIC News Release, November 3, 2011

Provincial Nominee Expansion: Good news for BC

CIC announced an expansion to the Provincial Nominee Programs. This is good news for both provinces and immigrants. It will give BC a stronger voice to what skilled workers and business immigrants it would like to see move to the province, and provide more opportunities for applications to be fast tracked. Important CIC Announcement affecting Family Reunificiation

Minister Jason Kenney announced today that CIC will no longer accept applications for parent and grandparent sponsorship to Canada. For applications in process, CIC will increase the number of accepted to 25,000 per year. This is to tackle the 180,000 backlog that exists. A Super Visa will be available for 10 years that  allow parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 2 years at a time. Find out more at: CIC News Release, November 4th, 2011
